A book club with a difference in Literary Bloomsbury

Something inside is willing me to exclaim ‘simply marvelous darling’.

The Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel has a book club! Its existence has come to my attention via trusted Time Out (December 2-8 2010 issue) but by the look of things, it’s not a new thing… (they don’t seem to be keeping the webpage updated).

How apt. How wonderful to bring back literature and the pleasure of reading to Bloomsbury in a time when everyone is obsessing about their phones and gadgets.

So… you can walk in, pick up the book of the month, settle in and read a few pages or read the whole book… and then if you like it, you can take your copy home. How brilliant! And once a month, a group meets to discuss the book, and from the TO article, it seems that authors have been known to join those discussions.

The January 2011 book is ‘Nourishment‘ by Gerard Woodward.

I’ll be sure to make a detour next time I’m in the area. It’s the little things like that which makes London what it is… the very best place to be.
