Botswana and Zambia – hotel room keys (June 2012)

Tent and elephant (June 2012)

Ah, yes. Hotel room keys.

Hmmm. It wasn’t really that kind of trip.

We camped. And mostly, we camped in wild camps.

And… I loved it.

Wild camping, hey.

This has come as a major surprise to all those who know me (“You? Wild camping? You?“) and to myself.

Getting back to camp after our early morning drives for a big fry up (and developing a fondness for Koo beans in the process).

Reading. Chatting. Shower. Laundry. Lunch. Nap. Getting ready for our early evening game drives.

Our en-suite (June 2012)
Our shower.

The hardest thing was judging what would be the right amount of fluid to fight off dehydration, whilst not jeopardising the nights. You don’t want to be leaving your tent at night. No, no.

There’s wildlife out there.

Wild animals.

Hell. There’s even an elephant passing near our camp in daytime. Can you see the fellow – top right corner of our tent?

Elephants are everywhere…
