RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

The RSPB is conducting its annual Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend. We are encouraged to watch our garden for an hour to help map out the bird population.

I hear a lot of birds. I see no birds!

Today is ‘officially’ the most depressing day of the year.

Blue Monday.

So what better to cheer us up that a video of a baby panda sneezing?

Do Nothing For 2 Minutes

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

I like that.

Some bright spark somewhere has had enough of the addictive powers of Facebook, Twitter and all and so he’s put together this lovely site to encourage us to do nothing… erm… for two minutes.

Relax

Now… this doesn’t sound hard, does it? But apparently a few of us can’t quite manage it.

And this deserves to be a good deed… because if we can’t take two minutes out of our crazy lives for ourselves then we’re in trouble.

Today is Earth Day!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

And there are still a few hours left in the day for you to do your bit… it doesn’t have to be much. It takes hardly any time to make a pledge, for example.

Visit Earth Day 2010 to read up about the current campaigns, learn how you can make a difference… or make that pledge.

Reminder: Earth Hour on Saturday 27 March, 8:30pm

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Remember? This is when you switch off all your lights for one hour to show politicians and the world that you care about climate change. Put it in the diary… now.

Haiti - fading from the headlines…

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

… but it doesn’t mean that your help is no longer needed…

Amazing, almost miraculous, stories of survival  are still making the news… but these are few and far between.

The tragic reality of what happened on 12 January is only now becoming apparent. It will take Haiti years to recover from the earthquake. For some, the psychological scars will never leave them.

If you haven’t yet got round to donating to the Haiti earthquake appeal, don’t worry. It’s not too late.

DEC Haiti appeal (bear in mind that the DEC will close the Haiti emergency appeal at the end of July; any donation made after that will be allocated to the next appeal)
UNICEF Haiti appeal

And remember that whatever you can afford to give will make a difference…

Save Little Green Street

Help stop developers endangering the residents and historial houses of Little Green Street.

This lovely street, one of the last intact Georgian Streets in London, is at risk. Developers want to turn the street into a construction route for their lorries for their proposed development nearby.

Visit littlegreenstreet for more info. And write to Frances Wheat at London Borough of Camden, Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, London WC1H 9JE or email (frances.wheat@camden.gov.uk).

Stop the madness. Protect London’s history.
