The end of paper maps?

(Via BBC news, 14 July 2012)

With the rise in new technology people appear to be ditching traditional maps in favour of sat-navs and mobile devices.

Why does progress mean that paper maps may disappear?

Maps are beautiful. They’re so full of possibilities.

I have maps at home, on walls. I have a big atlas. They’re not just lovely things, they’re useful too.

I use maps to plan trips.

Find new places. Explore.

Check where I’m going, marking the maps as I go along.

And I use maps when I come back from trips to see where I’ve been.
