The Painted Veil and the serious case of a wardrobe envy

The Painted Veil film poster

I wouldn’t always recommend it… but watching a film for the second time can be awesome.

You concentrate less on the main plot but start paying attention to the scenery and secondary characters.

I watched The Painted Veil last night on my way back from Cornwall. I had forgotten enough of the details for it to be exciting and tragic: the threat of the cholera epidemic, the rise of nationalism and threats to foreigners and most importantly, we follow Kitty Fane’s transformation from a shallow ex-pat to someone who takes responsibility for her actions and who will put others first.

And I developed a serious crush on Kitty’s wardrobe.
