The world’s favourite museums

 The world’s favourite museums

The world’s top ten museums.

I have been to six of them. Not bad.

I can’t believe, however, that I’ve never been to the Louvre! I’ve walked around the Pyramid and the underground lobby where I grabbed a sandwich in the cafe. But I’ve never seen any art in the Louvre. As I type this, I realise that this will have to be put right.

But I did make it to the Claude Monet exhibition at the Grand Palais, which took the fifth spot in last year’s best exhibitions!

These facts and figures, from an article on the BBC website, came with another interesting tidbit. The economic crisis is ‘forcing’ museums to re-assess their collections and be creative with their displays. Not a bad thing. In fact, if I remember correctly, the Photography: New Documentary Forms exhibition at Tate Modern recently was one of those.

Aren’t we lucky to have six of these museums so close-by!
