Elephant – Greenwich Theatre, 20 May 2010

Obviously, when a play called “Elephant” is in town, I have to see it!

There’s a very good review of the play here. But let me just say that Elephant is a powerful story-telling play from Africa with a moral. Similar to “11 and 12” in that it has a minimal cast and a minimal stage design. The live music and singing kept the play upbeat when the story became darker.

When the elephants appeared on stage,  they were magnificent. Clever lighting ensured that the puppets were convincing. It was magical and I don’t know about the rest of the audience but I got goose-bumps!

A stunning play, a very good cast and a powerful story. And a good night out in Greenwich.
