The spirit of Christmas: the John Lewis Refuge gift list

I’ve started Christmas shopping.

Yep, it’s October, I know.

But when my other half pointed me towards THE ONLY REASON TO START CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EARLY (redonline.co.uk), there’s no way I was going to hold back:

Sadly, there will also be children in the UK who won’t enjoy the basic luxuries a cosy family home; they will be spending Christmas in a refuge, having escaped domestic abuse – often with few of their toys, games or clothes from the home they have fled. Which is why domestic violence charity Refuge – Red’s partners in the Speak Up Save A Life campaign – run an annual Christmas Present appeal.

Every year, Refuge try to ensure that every woman and child in their refuges receive a minimum of two to three presents each to unwrap on Christmas day.”

Isn’t that the best thing ever?

None of the gifts are that expensive (from £2.95 to £40.00).

It takes no time at all.

All you need to do to purchase a gift is go to Buy a Gift at JohnLewisGiftList.com and enter list number 522953. You have plenty of time, as the list closes on 6 December, but why not do it now?

Transform a child’s life this Christmas.

A child who would not otherwise get to unwrap a gift on Christmas Day. A child who may already have been denied their childhood.

If that’s not the spirit of Christmas, I don’t know what it.
